The pandemic has caused panic among all the people. But the elderly were the most vulnerable to the virus and they had higher chances of risk. However, Primus, luxury senior citizen homes in Bangalore Providers, proudly became a zero-case community during covid-19. When the country and states struggled to bring the situation under control, Primus successfully made it by making protection and prevention our motto.
How Primus Achieved Zero COVID Cases with Strict Protocols
Like it is said, prevention is better than cure. We encouraged the inhabitants to wear personal protective gear like masks, gloves, facemasks, eye protection etc. all the time. The nursing staff and doctors were also provided with PPE kits and they used to wear the same to keep themselves and the residents safe. The suspects with even a low fever were isolated with immediate effect and were given all the facilities required at their doorstep.
Cleaning and disinfection were done every now and then using hospital-grade disinfectants. We made sure the right supplies are made available to the staff. The staff as well as the inhabitants were given proper awareness about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene to ensure they follow proper disinfection procedures. Also, Primus cancelled large group activities and tried to bring up more innovative fun activities where social distancing can be followed. We also tried to bring down communal dining to avoid gatherings. However, alternate ways to entertain the crowd as well as smaller group activities that do not involve contact were conducted without fail. We encourage the residents to pursue crafts or arts that they can work on independently.
We made sure none of the changes put a toll on the mental health of the residents. All supports, including counselling, were available all throughout the time. 24*7 medical assistance was provided to all occupants and even the smallest symptom was taken care of with utmost caution. We also restricted visitors to prevent disease introduction into the premises. This way, we were able to prevent the outbreak. But we made sure they were able to communicate with their loved ones through alternative ways. All kinds of technical help were provided to the residents to keep in touch with their loved ones.
Primus was open to the queries of the loved ones of the residents as we understand their concern. They were constantly updated with the new happenings in the community to ensure their loved ones are kept safe. The “new normal” was normalised among the seniors who welcomed the changes with a positive attitude. None of these changes stopped us from providing integrated services to our senior living community.
Primus is an organised senior care facility that works towards making the lives of the seniors joyous and independent. We aim at bringing highly efficient services that unifies the requirements of the seniors as well as meets and supports their needs through an integrated ecosystem. This elder-centric approach faced the pandemic with courage by staying prepared as a community.
